Basically download the stable release .yml and then there is a command listed on the github page to install the stable release.
Get it where it's cheaper. DRM-Free is also a good choice. I picked the steam version because the guide section is helpful, and the forums are more active with user-support. That isn't correct. I have both the GOG and Steam versions. The GOG copy disables the GFWL requirment. GOG also includes the 4GB fix and other tweaks by default.
